I’m sure web logging educators are no different from others, but how clear is it that school is just around the corner just from doing some teacher “blogrolling”? We’re all taking a little step back it seems, getting ready, recharging, sitting quietly…I miss all the posting, but I don’t miss the time it’s affording me to get focused on kids once again. 17 days…
17 days? I wish… classes start here in 1 week, and I start work in 2 days!!!
On a positive note, we’re about to set up a webserver on campus and depending on which OS our tech decided upon, we’ll go pMachine or Manila. I like both, based on what I’ve seen…
I’ve submitted a proposal to our principal to set up a teacher “team” to start webifying every department/course/class. Individual teachers don’t have enough time or experience to just jump in, so I want to create a framework and start holding hands. In time, teachers will either see the functionality and start working on weblogging/portfolios etc. themselves or just leave it up to the team. I’d like to see the school have a completely functional online learning community. Of course, if the administration doesn’t want to pay for us to do this, I’ll just be doing stuff with my classes and a couple others.
We’ll see what happens- wish me luck.
Michael,
If you wind up using pMachine let me know. I will be giving it a go this year so I’d love to compare notes.
I have been in school for almost two weeks. I am still looking for hosting. I am checking in with Sam Devore about a trial hosting with his company. I’ll keep you posted. Exciting year so far. Hope all will be well with y’alls.
