Going to NECC? EdBlogger Meetup?

June 27, 2006 By Will Richardson

I just realized that I don’t know of anyone co-ordinating any after hours edublog meetup type stuff. Not that I’m volunteering, or anything, but has anybody taken charge? Anyone!?!?
If you’re gonna be at NECC, leave a comment. If we get critical mass…um…somebody (maybe you?) will do something. Maybe a DOPA protest or something fun like that. I promise. Spread the word.

I’ll at NECC- we should all get together. I would suggest somewhere in the GasLamp district, but I’m not exactly sure where, as I am not that familiar with San Diego. How about the 6th?

I’ll be there. This will be my first trip to San Diego, so I’ll defer to others regarding location. The 6th works for me.

How about on the 6th after the Web 2.0 BOF session… Maybe we should put Thor Prichard on the case…

    I’m game for the 6th.

Count me in on the 6th…Also don’t forget to join Wesley Fryer, David Warlick and the rest us sharing pics on our Flickr Group: http://www.flickr.com/groups/necc2006/

    Will,

So sorry that Mary and I can’t be at NECC with you this year. We are doing a boot camp in Nashua, NH this week with our teachers!
Have fun – we’ll all be reading!

I’ll be there as well, and would love to get together. San Diego is a mystery to me, but the 6th sounds good.

OK, seems like everyone is comfortable with the 6th. How about Rock Bottom, located at:

    401 G St. San Diego, CA 92101
    619.231.7000

    Map: http://www.gaslamp.org/location.php

I know that this would be a pretty good place, we have them in Illinois and would be suitable for discussion. They have a rooftop deck as well.

    How about anytime after 8?
    Dave

It sounds like fun after 8. I have a state gathering before that.

I have a dinner with the Discovery Educators, but it ends at 9 — if the two locations aren’t too far apart, I would REALLY like to see you all there.

    Sounds good! See you there!

I’m looking forward to the event and trying to fit it all into a few days. I’ve got something to share with the group with this group, too, if I can find you all.

I would love to meet you all. However, on Thursday, I am at the Discovery Educators meeting as well — but hopefully I can make both. I look forward, as well, to putting faces with blogs. (grins)

Would love to be there too–but the handheld group is doing a meet-up on Thursday at Rock Bottom at 6:30.

Would love to attend; however, I have a NECC Program Committee meeting from 8:00 until 9:30. Will try my best to get there before the meet-up is over. Incidentally, how far is this location from the Manchaster Grand Hyatt? That will, of course, determine if I can attend…….Jerrie

    Hi Will,

I plan to be there and looking forward to seeing you again and meeting others…it looks like about 6-8 people from my Bloglines account will be there.

Not trying to gum up the works – but if it is not too late to make a change I would suggest Dick’s Last resort over Rock Bottom.

    Dick’s Last Resort
    (Casual Dining/Sports Bar)
    345 Fourth Ave.
    (619) 231-9100

Dick’s has a lot of outdoor seating, but indoor also in case it is too hot (doubt it). They have a great menu, the servers will give you a very hard time in a good-natured sort-of-way, you don’t have to worry about disturbing other patrons (nobody expects you to be quiet), it’s closer to the Hyatt and the Convention Center, and has much more of a San Diego feel to it than Rock Bottom.

I’ll check back here before Thursday to see if you’re still going to Rock Bottom or if my hard-sell tactics worked at all. The only reason I mention it is that I’ve been to both places in San Diego during the past year and Dick’s was ten times more fun.

    See ya next week, Barry

This is my first NECC conference and I am thrilled! I am looking forward to meeting and greeting my colleagues.

Either place sounds cool to me. Let’s try to make a decision before Tuesday?
    Looking forward…
