Finally, an article on blogs in schools that gets it pretty much right. What’s in a Blog? is the lead story in this month’s American School Board Journal and it does a great job, I think, of framing the potential of blogs and in accurately reflecting the state of the Read/Write world. Now if every board member in the country reads it, we might start bringing some sanity back to the blogs and safety conversation. (Via Anne)
Thanks for this great article. I am doing a presentation at our Administrator’s Retreat next week about all of these new tools for communication and this article will give credibility to blogging I believe, since it has the “school board” stamp of approval. There are so many obstacles to effecting change in our schools – but this article really provided a hard and fast rationale for using this tool with the community.
We came so close to hosting a “budget blog” in our district right before a very difficult budget vote (thank goodness, the budget did pass in the end.) At the last moment, fear dominated and the blog never went up. But I will push again next year.
