At last, some help for those of us who experience occasional, temporary blog depression marked by “loss of interest in the Internet, feelings of sadness, disappointment, anger, self loathing, hopelessness and dimentia, and passive aggressive moaning and a steady lengthening of the interval between posts…”
Will, I was taken aback by language/ideas/expressions employed in this booklet – particularly on pages five and six … I’ll leave them to your reading as I’m uncomfortable rewriting some of them here. Based on a simliar intro link and thinking this would be a good resource for my first-year comp students at university, I had posted the pdf to my del.icio.us account. After reading, I removed the bookmark.
You’ve had so many reads on this post with no objections posted in comments that I was/am reluctant to speak up, but after reading the pages again tonight, I’m at least interested in checking my thoughts against yours. I admit that a “nicely done” from you made me take a second look, but I’d still not consider this material appropriately distributed to freshman as part of a discussion about blogging. Any follow-up thoughts? -mary godwin, Body Electric
Mary, I read it and thought it was a great satiric goof. No real application at all. It’s interesting that you and Will took it seriously.
Laura, it’s interesting that both you and Mary thought I took it seriously! ;0)
And by the way Mary, nice blog. I love the del.icio.us tags you have set up for your class. And here’s hoping for the safe return of your daughter from Iraq.
