My illustrious governor and secretary of education are on a tour of the state this week promoting amazing reforms that will no doubt help New Jersey students get more smarter and, most importantly, get better scores on the test. (Yay!) But I thought it might be fun to take one, just one quote from this nj.com article and play a little “What don’t they get about learning?” game. Here is the quote:
Acting Education Commissioner Christopher Cerf praised the [Common Core] standards as a step toward ensuring proper assessments and understanding.
“Standards as we know in their most simple terms are a collective decision about what a child should know,” Cerf said. “I’m very, very proud to be part of a state that stepped up early, that cut through the politics.”
Ok, who wants to play? What can we know about what they don’t know just from that quote? Anyone?
