Kevin Jarrett has converted his site to Blog CMS and he says it has some edu-features (new word!) worth checking out. The big news is that you can approve comments before they are posted. It runs on PostNuke and requires PHP and mySQL. Anyone else out there using this as a school solution???
What do you mean with “it runs on Postnuke”? Is there a way to connect it with Postnuke?
I should have said “powered by Postnuke.”
I’m not sure where you are getting the information about PostNuke. I have set up an installation of BlogCMS to try it out, and it is based on Nucleus CMS. It looks like quite a versatile tool and is worth checking out.
Ok…my ignorance of the dark side is showing once again…disregard any mention of PostNuke. (I wish I had more of a left brain…) Glad to hear it works regardless…
Hey Will, thanks for the plug, and you are too gracious to point out that I gave you bad 411. 🙂 I think I’m the one that mentioned PostNuke to you.
Rob is right, it is based on Nucleus CMS, not PostNuke, though they are both outstanding open source CMS tools.
I am thinking about getting together a group of people, a mix of newbies and open source pros, to develop a definitive “how-to” for BLOG:CMS. Maybe a wiki? The developer support forums are great (a little techie at times), and the documentation is usually good enough, but if my experience is any indication … folks like me could use a one-stop shop for installing, developing, and deploying BLOG:CMS in a classroom setting.
What do you think?

Hey Will … hold that thought!
WordPress is a LOT easier to set up and use than BLOG:CMS. The latter seems far more powerful, but … I am looking hard at WordPress now. Sample blog up now (temporarily) at: http://www.kevin-jarrett.net/wordpress.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…

We have converted to Word Press and like it very much. It allows comments to be approved before they are posted to the blog. I have my comments about Word Press on my blog @
