Reflections of a Techie

September 2, 2003 By Will Richardson

Another “new” site that I’ll be adding to my aggregator. Marsha Ratzel is a middle school teacher who says:

I experiment with this medium because I want to understand how my students can use it to deepen their learning. I know that my generation is prehistoric in terms of having this inside our teaching toolbox. So I come here to try and learn. To join my students in exploring their world. Never want to loose the spark of curiosity and drive to learn more about anything and everything…even if it means that I’m in over my head. I’ll still learn and try.

She poses some good questions about teaching students to read the Web. Is reading a Web log different from reading other Web content? Do we need to discuss the nuances involved? Can we represent Web log reading visually for them? The asynchronous, threaded discussion? Interesting stuff.
