Syndicating Learning Objects with RSS and Trackback

August 12, 2003 By Will Richardson

(via Al DelGado) Ok, so I think I finally get this, especially after doing a few run throughs of the PowerPoint presentation that links from the above. Teachers subscribe to RSS feeds from repositories, and when they use one of the lessons that comes across their aggregators, they post it in their Web logs. This then tracksback (is that a verb?) to the original object where it creates a list of educators who have used that object which gives some context on how or why the object was used in the first place. And so it goes…

This is such a cool idea, and the implications are huge. If we as teachers can easily subscribe to databases of relevant lessons and then add our own twist to those ideas which are then added to the whole mix…that would be an incredible resource for educators.
