If you’re in the New York City area (or sittlng by your computer) tomorrow morning at 10:40 EST, I’m scheduled to appear on The Brian Lehrer Show on WNYC. The topic, I think, is DOPA, but it could be about other fun and interesting things as well. Talking points, anyone?
Here’s hoping I don’t make a fool of myself…

Awesome, you’ll be great. Maybe you can sneak in a bit about the “series of tubes” and how that guy, in charge of it all, was also (right?) the secret senator who blocked the google of contracts. Have I got all that right? Ah well, you’ll be great I’m sure.
As an Alabama blogging teacher, it might be nice to mention that DOPA has scared so many that the State Dept. of Ed. in Alabama has attempted blocking blogs in schools. And check out Wesley Fryer’s latest blog post on School reform vision needed. It really hits home and shows how parents and others are being short-sighted when it comes to computers in the classroom and social networking sites. You are so clever, Will, I have faith that you will do the blogging community proud. Break a Leg!
Another benefit from not being employed! You get to be on the radio in the middle of the day in September and I get to listen. Be careful, too much positive attention on ‘MySpace’ by adults and no (lack of) self-respecting teen will ever use it again.
Great job on the radio this morning! Gotta love streaming.
We have an online communications safety curriculum in our middle school for IM, blogs, and MySpace. We want them to use it, but use it safely. We are teaching grade 6 how to protect their own information, grade 7 how to remember to protect the privacy of others, and grade 8 the best way to use these tools for communication.
I will be posting the curriculum on the district Web site once it is ready for prime-time. http://nausetschools.org/technology.htm

Well done this morning. I caught most of the conversation and grabbed the podcast to catch the rest. I have been using a blog to support my courses since ’04 and will experiment with podcasts this fall. The first writing assignment each semester is related to the new media that is transforming learning environments (or should be). Congratulations on being ahead of the curve!
