Passive users<br>
Can’t be free to express…not on school server. Not unless it’s eds only which defeats the purpose?<br>
No time for colleagues<br>
We don’t want to force them to write, to converse.<br>
Why do we think they would do this anyway? It’s a false reality no matter how we set it up.<br>
Blogging cannot be done in K-12 schools. There, I’ve said it. Blogging only really works if it is subject only to the limits the author puts on it. It can’t be subject to external control and mean anything.<br>
Asynchronous conversations don’t take the place of synchronous. They just aren’t motivated to comment. Not real…forced.<br>
Blogs are cheap Blackboards. Good for posting info, communicating one way. Archiving info. Bringing people into the conversation. Research. E-portfolio. Some collaboration. Easier than old web pages. But on K-12, that’s about it.<br>
