Apologies for not getting back to this last week as promised. As sometimes happens, life got in the way of blogging. Not regretting it at all, btw. ;0)
So, whaddaya say we actually try to do something with these Big Questions, as in turn them into a document that schools can use to frame their own conversations around change? Based on your comments and conversations, I threw together a wiki with a plan of action. Rather than bore you with the details here, why not go and check it out and start contributing your ideas?
Looking forward to learning along with you.
Hi Will,
Love this idea!
I have one additional question – what is the role of parents/community in a learning community?
If you’re interested in adding to the “big 10”, I’d love to volunteer to moderate that discussion!
Just a thought…
Thanks and I look forward to building/using these resources!
@HHG
Is it my filter or is there a “linko”? I can’t get the wiki page to appear.
Like the wiki. I found my responses to most questions were institutionalized.
I am wondering if we would be in this situation or if these questions would even be on our minds if we adopted Reagan’s recommendations on education. I think he forwarned us on having strong federal involvment in our education system. Now, we are looking back in hidsight and realizing he was right with many areas; now we are asking these questions.
Maybe add this one – Can we limit the involvement of the Fed in our educational system to give it the overhaul it really needs?
As a student still studying to become a teacher, I find these questions quite compelling to the future of education. If the powers that be at the top levels of the education bureaucracy formed a committee upon the premise of finding the solutions to these questions we would be well on our way to a revolution of the way we educate our future generations and they in turn educate us!
