Whew…we made it! It took most of the day yesterday for the import over from Manila to build. I have to say it was kind of interesting watching old posts from 2, 3, even 4 years ago scroll by. A weird time machine effect.
Anyway, looks like the site is about 90% rebuilt, but there is still some work to do. James Farmer has been just incredible with his time and effort on my behalf, and he’s even offered to do some tweaks while I’m taking my break. I’ll get to the rest of it when I return. The main thing is that the feed appears to be working. If you’re reading this in your aggregator, it would be great if a few of you could leave a comment just to confirm it.
Anyway, now I’m really on vacation, with one big thing off my plate. (Though I’m itching to really dig into WP.) Thanks again, James.
Will,
the feed is coming through OK. Glad you’re up and running. Have a nice break.
Paul
The feed is coming through just fine on my bloglines account.
Hi Will, I met you at the NYSCATE conference in March. The feed is fine. Have a good one!
Will,
I use Bloglines and got your feed fine from WordPress. I’m glad to see it’s working so well since I’ve just opened an account there.
Have a good vacation.
SwEEt 😀 edublogs aside this has gotta have been one of my more challenging technical moments so I’m v. happy that we’re on the other side
Google Reader works fine!
Happy break!
Excellent! I have had the hardest time trying to add comments to your previous posts. Glad to see you on WordPress.
Yep, Bloglines works just fine. Glad you’ve seen the light and have decided to use WordPress! Please could you change the smilies though? Those ones are pretty irritating…
Hi:
Congratulation on your transition to the new server software… which leads me to why I’m posting.
I’m a long-time Frontier/Manila user, having run my own Frontier servers since way back when it the Manila component didn’t even exist and the software was free. I’ve also been thinking about moving to a newer product recently so your post about transitioning to Word Press from Manila caught my eye.
Can you point me to any resources that will help me with this process. I’d very very grateful if you could do this!
Thanks,
Dan
It’s working great in my Bloglines account. Enjoy your break – we’re on Spring Break next week, and I’m planning to enjoy mine.
Feed’s coming through fine with Bloglines.
Glad that your system change went well, Will. The RSS feeds from my previous Drupal install no longer work since my transfer to WordPress last month.
Hi Will,
Congradulations on the new digs. The place looks great. Here‘s a little housewarming gift for you. 😉
You’re still coming though loud and clear in bloglines.
Cheers,
Darren
I use Kinja for my feeds and your blog comes in fine.
Congratulations on your move WP. Site looks fine and feed is working as well. Have a good rest… but don’t be long.
Hi Will-feed is good! We talked a couple of years ago when you tried to help me with Manilla at my school. I’ve been following you since. Keep up the great work.
Looks great, and welcome to Word Press. I like it, too. By the way, I read you via Bloglines, and the feed is fine.
Works for me in Bloglines. Congrats on the move!
You’re coming through loud and clear in my Bloglines feeds. Congrats on making the step up to wordpress. Both my blogs are run on WordPress and trust me, you’ll never go back.
Wow, looks just fantastic and as evryone has said the feed is happening. GReat work, Will and James!
cheers,
Jo
I still get your feed (I use NewsFire). Nice work James/Will. Keep up the great conversations! Have fun with WP.
feed works fine.
welcome to the open-source community. i use Typo personally, but usually use WordPress at our school. the features are excellent, and the customizing is very accessible. the WordPress community is also great for support.
The feed works fine for me. Enjoy the break.
Feeds uninterrupted in my Feed Reader and coming through as good as ever in a Moodle site (block).
Great partnership, Will and James!
All is well. Now get off the machine and go play!
Nice new look. I love WordPress. Looking forward to trading tips and tricks.
Just last evening I finished “importing” several years’ worth of posts into WP too. Mine was a manual import as what I was coming from could not be dumped. Sigh . . .
Anyhow, I pick up your RSS feed in my aggregator and all looks fine here.
Congratulatins on the move to WP, Will, and what are you doing reading this? Take a deep breath, and step away from the computer….
If any other readers are contemplating moving from Manila/Frontier to WordPress, it’s made (relatively) easy with the script from Jason Levine available here:
http://www.queso.com/manilaToMT.php
It’s not perfect, since Manila’s “Stories” aren’t imported properly. I’m still working on figuring out that and other Manila transition issues with five years’ worth of blog entries. But since WP imports MT pretty smoothly, it’s worth doing.
I was here before because I have this blog bookmarked…. But Ido not recognize it, so you must have made some serious changes in the design?
Perfect in Sage! Now rest up!
Hey great site please come and post it in our Blog Directory at http://www.BloggerBeast.com
