Found this pretty slick looking newsfeed page at Winfield Public Schools in Kansas which led, with a little digging, to the discovery that they are using or at least playing with a CMS called Mambo. Looks like the school site is still being built because really all I could find about its use was this little snippet: “It’s official; Winfield Public Schools rolls out a content management system to better communicate with its constituents.” If the interchangeable themes are any indication, this could be something worth looking into some more.
I love it when I see school districts moving in different directions like this.
This is amazing! This is actually my district’s page. I can’t believe someone found it so fast. We just started working on it over spring break.
I would love to know which aspects of the news feeds you like. It is in a constant state of morfing and it would be great to get the feedback.
Yes it is in development. Hopefully soon to be rolled out. Mambo has some very nice features for starting with RSS. It will both pull in and agregate remote RSS feeds and place them onto your site and will also generate an RSS stream based on changes in your site. It also has two display formats labeled as “blogs” and supports users posting links and news articles for approval to be added to the site.
The templates are very very cool. Saving a ton of time with site development.
